One of my favorite childhood memories is one of my earlier birthday parties. My uncle came from outside of the state to spend the day with us and he played his guitar for hours. When I wanted to play it, he let me strum on the strings, but did not allow me to touch the knobs at the top. But, I remember that his music was so beautiful to listen to and I could not understand why it sounded so pretty when he played it, but sounded horrible when I ran my own fingers over the strings. He gave me a teddy bear as my birthday gift that day. I ended up losing it sometime over the years, but I still remember what it looked like and I sometimes even wonder what became of it. That birthday party is my favorite childhood memory because it is the best memory I have with my uncle, who is now resting in peace.
For fun, I love to watch new movies. Going to a movie theater is one of my favorite things to do, especially with friends to go along with. However, if they talk during the movie, I always get up and move away from them. I also like to read books. I might even enjoy reading books more than I enjoy watching movies, because I feel more attached to the characters and I spend a lot more time with them. Instead of watching the characters for an hour and a half and that’s it, in books I get to come back to them for several hours. Granted, you could watch the movie again and again, but books and movies are the best the first time you read or watch them. The second and third times are never as good.
For dinner recently, I had bacon with biscuits and gravy. I know those are breakfast foods, but we didn’t have much to choose from and we all agreed that a warm and delicious breakfast meal sounded a lot better than scrounging up something else. Lately for dinner, I have been having only canned vegetables, which are not filling at all and do not taste very good, but we just don’t have a lot left to eat right now. We already ate all of the yummy foods before eating the healthy foods. Therefore, now all we have left is the healthy foods. I do not mind eating more healthy than usual, but I am already too skinny as it is and people are always commenting on how I look like a skeleton. I wish we had more foods like the previous supper that I had, with bacon, gravy, and biscuits.
Wet chemical fire extinguishers are a very important tool for safety because anywhere and everywhere you live, there is a potential for a fire. Of course there are firemen who will come to your rescue once a fire is reported but it depends on the point during the fire when it is reported. Firemen are not always going to be there on time to put out a fire. For this reason, it is good to have at least one new wet chemical fire extinguisher on you so you could use it to put out any fire before it gets too big to handle. Having your place burned to the ground is not a fun thing to have happen. That is why it is best to do everything you can to keep it from happening.
The current recession is something that is making people’s lives much more difficult, including my life and the lives of people in my family. We come from a very poor family and my half-sibling had nothing to help them get into college, so all they could do was work jobs. Unfortunately, a job cannot be found where we live. Applications have been put in with every place we could find, but unemployment still lingers. We have moved from home to home, at least five times this year and we are always broke. I do not even know what the other aspects of the current recession are. All I know is that unemployment is making it very difficult for me and my family to survive.
My day has been okay, but it was a little frustrating earlier. Someone was being louder than they should have, which is why this morning I was woken up much earlier than I should have been, so I didn’t get a lot of sleep. We were low on food and my breakfast had to be a can of mixed fruits, which did not taste very good at all and didn’t fill me up in the least. When lunchtime got here, I decided that I wasn’t going to eat that can of peas that was sitting in the cabinet, so I scrounged up some change and left the apartment to go find something tastier for my lunch. I began down a sidewalk that would lead me to a grocery store where I thought I would be able to find something better than peas and at a cheap price. But, half way there, I saw that there were a whole lot of construction people working on the sidewalk up ahead of me, drilling into the concrete. I couldn’t keep going forward, because really loud noises trigger my anxiety. Therefore, I turned around and went to the dollar store instead. I ended up buying a pepperoni pizza, which I heated up in the oven. I accidentally overcooked it a little bit, but it was still delicious.
I have really been missing the music of the 1990’s lately. There were so many good bands from Britain and the US. It just seems that lately music has been losing its personality and everything has turned into a huge mockery of creativity. There are some decent artists now, as always, but I long for the days when bands made their mark by playing constant shows and promoting on the radio. It’s fun to see the amount of interaction that is possible through social media, but I suppose I am just a guy that liked things the way they were when I was a kid. I can’t imagine that I am much different from anyone in any generation that says the same thing.
Have you ever had a fire break out and you did not know whether to put it out with water or baking soda? There are two things to remember: Oil and water do not mix and water and electricity do not mix. Therefore, if you have a grease fire, please use baking soda to fight the fire; water will only make the flames grow higher and will spread the grease. If you have an electrical fire, water will not put it out, therefore you need afff fire extinguishers, which have baking soda as an ingredient that will smother the fire.
I currently live in a town in the Inland Northwest. It is not a very big town, but we do have an airport and a few minor league sports teams. We are luck to have all four seasons of the year here. We have a bitterly cold winter followed by beautiful springs. Unfortunately, summer can be quite unbearable but we are lucky enough to have pleasant fall seasons. The city I live in is also very close to tons of outdoor activities. We can be at a lake or mountain within minutes from downtown, and that gives us the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports easily all throughout the year.
Today, I wore a pretty simple outfit. I decided to wear some khaki cargo pants with the big bulky pockets and a red striped polo that I purchased on my last trip to Mexico. Because it has been so cold all day, I also wore one of my favorite t-shirts underneath my polo and some warm wool socks with my adidas hiking boots. Early this morning when I left for work, it was quite cold out so I took the time to put on my skull cap, a small scarf, a ski jacket and some very warm, insulated ski gloves.
