I do dread winter driving and avoid it as much as I can. I also shovel snow by hand and that can get a bit much after a while, although I have a special shovel I call my “scoop,” and the driveway goes pretty quickly with it. As for what I like: First of all, it is the quietest season and I love that. Everyone keeps their windows at home and in their vehicles closed, so I do not have to hear other people’s music, televisions, arguments, sneezes and burps. Second, I love to look at the world as it snows and just after – such sparkling white is really a joy. And third, those beautiful crystal clear days with bright blue skies and the sun up high over wintry scenes are just fabulous.
My afternoon meeting was cancelled, so I got to work on a project at home. It dawned on me a few weeks ago that my dogs would like to be closer to me when I am working at my computer. So I found a crib mattress and bought some lumber. I spent this afternoon making a very big combination bench for me and doggie bed for them. Unfortunately it’s a bit too high, but with a little re-arranging it is going to be awesome. In the process, I got to unpack some new tools I got as gift quite a while back and learn how to use them. It was a lot of fun to do and hopefully the dogs will enjoy it.
I live in San Francisco and I am always concerned about fire safety. I live in a three unit building which abuts buildings on both sides. There are no yards here so the buildings are packed close together like townhouses. I think the local fire code requires the building owner to give the tenants a small powder fire extinguisher for their units. I have one in my office (I work from home). I have noticed that they have not been keeping up to date on maintaining the powder fire extinguisher and keeping the pressure inside it up. This is supposed to be checked regularly so I need to mention that to the landlord.
My favorite thing to do in the rain is open the garage, get a cup of coffee and my writer’s pad and write while drawing inspiration from this beautiful natural phenomena. The rain cleanses the air we breathe as well as the ground we walk in. It provides life for the crops we sow and those that grow in the wild. Rain keeps our lakes from drying and keeps our rivers flowing. Rain is truly beautiful.
My city is a very quaint place to live in, where there is rarely any crime. This low crime rate allows me to walk the streets safely and play at my local park without fear of discrimination and fights. The population is very mixed causing all of us to live in peace and accept a multicultural community. We recently built a water park for the city where 5 dollars could give you an escape from the heat of summertime. Also, my city is located close to the three major cities in the bay area- San Jose, Oakland, and San Francisco.
If I could be anything, I would be Superman. It sounds childish, but Superman is the epitome of man itself. He is, in fact, the supreme alpha male. Superman cannot be destroyed or hurt by punches or even weapons. He upholds the law and punishes criminals. He also has a beautiful love interest. What else could a guy want? Being Superman would mean I would have a lot of enemies to fight against, but my superhuman strength would facilitate this task. I would uphold a moral law, just like Superman does in the comic books. Being Superman would be awesome.
If I could have anything in the world, it would be the American dream. No, not the fancy cars and mansion American dream, I am talking about the simple hardworking middle class American dream. All I really want to have is a decent job, a loving wife, a couple friends, and one or two kids I can raise right. That is all people really need, but we blind ourselves to this truth and instead chase after materialistic desires which are unnecessary and end up controlling us. In contrast to the glamor and glitz lifestyle we live in, my dreams are humbled but it is truly all I want.
Fire safety is an extremely important aspect of any public building. Fire accidents can be hazardous and end up killing and injuring lives. Hence it is vital to take proper precautions to prevent them from happening. It is a must for public buildings like schools, offices and colleges to have a fire extinguisher to use in the case of emergency. The fire service department organizes training sessions in schools and colleges teaching students how to use a fire extinguisher and handle the situation of a fire breakout. Such initiatives of the fire service department are commendable. When a fire breaks out, one must try to put it out using co2 fire extinguishers. Else, the building must be evacuated and the fire department should be called.
Something that means a lot to me is my dog, Rubio. Rubio is a bulldog that I have owned since I was a little kid. Rubio was a puppy back then; now he has grown much older. While bulldogs look menacing, Rubio is a playful pup at heart. I have taught him tricks, as he sits when I tell him to. Once Rubio got sick, but the local vets took care of him and he got better. If he had died, I would have been devastated. I take Rubio for walks and I am proud to say that he is an integral part of my life.
In the Holidays, I will spend some quality time with the family and play Christmas music. We will set up a tree, decorate it and furnish it with all the bells and ornaments we can find. Then we will make Christmas cookies and go around town singing Christmas carols to everyone. Afterwards, we will roast a chicken and make many side dishes for a large Christmas meal. The presents, which have already been bought, will be placed under the tree on Christmas eve for the family to open the next day. After that, well, it’s on to the next year!
